Monday

Just past nine, delivered son to school and wife to her "former" work, for her "meeting" neither of us are sure what the meeting is about, probably for ArseBoss to satisfy his own psychology, he doesn't want to see him self as the kind of guy who gets rid of people just before Christmas, but that just what he is. I'm waiting for wife to phone for a lift back, its raining. She is so much a better person than me, she actually was going to work till the meeting. But on the way past to the school she craned her neck to see if anyone was sitting at her old desk, we couldn't tell. I think i persuaded her not to work but to just ask fro the meeting, go through it , and say goodbye to anyone she wants to. The firm has this thing they do when people leave. They actually escort them off the premasis, like a disgraced soldier. If this happens ive told her to ignore it and carry on as if it wasn't happening or to say it is ludicrous.

Right now im fairly tense....

Well, wife arrived home at half ten, grinning, carrying a big envelope. At least some things are becoming clearer. In the envelope is a " Compromise agreement", which i find out is an agreement not to take them to court. Not only that but they have told wife to take it to a solicitor AT THEIR EXPENSE, and have it signed that she has sought legal advice, and they will pay £300 for THAT! So that crystallises it, they are shit scared of being taken to court over bullying. So they struck first (as they thought) and offered what she would get from a court. I expect they are thinking that they did the right thing, but fact is the wife wasn't going to take them to court, indeed hadn't taken any moves in that direction, but had vaguely looked at the local newspaper for jobs, that's all.

The "meeting" was "interesting" with ArseBoss expressing a slight change in that he really respected wife for working last week and showing her immediate boss the job etc.. maybe it slightly dawned on him that he had fired a loyal hard working conscientious worker. And maybe it also dawned that she wasn't actually going to take them to court. That he had wasted the company's money. Also he was taken aback by the wife's joy at the offer and the opportunity to leave. The big mystery is why didn't they change the office? Preferring to keep the office as it is a bullying sexist place than to change it to an amenable place to work. The big problem with this is the other lady in the office now knows exactly why the wife left, and if anything she has a better case against them..........one can only hope she takes it up, wait with glee.

The wife didn't get escorted off the premasis, she wandered round (sans the obligatory safety boots!) saying good bye to people. Only two people knew she was going in the company, ArseBoss and Mr Dull the irascible and fairly incompetent company accountant who runs the morgue like office upstairs. Two were a bit odd in their reaction. The Bully, said "its what you have been working for"... which is an odd thing to say indeed, as he was the one shouting and screaming at her; at least until she told him to stop bullying her. And the Bullys assistant, im sure you know the type, pale sickly but stands at a bullys shoulder enjoying the reflected tormenting. Everyone else seemed shocked. Upset even, the temp was almost in tears. The guys on the shop floor who knew what the wife did to chase up things for customers were "gobsmaked" And so she walked out, paid till the end of this week, and then three months beyond as "notice" and then three months pay (without stoppages) as an Exgratia payment to keep quiet and not sue them....

We went to pick up our son, i left them in the park and they walked down past the office, the temp (sitting in the wife's old seat) saw them passing and waved, then the rest of the office waved as the wife happily waved back and then carried on home.....

Mr lecturer phoned, his specialist says he's "Stable" ie not about to die in this eight week block of time...
